CO.M.P.ES. S.p.A. achieved a significant goal in 1993, and was the first in Europe to do so: obtaining double certification on the basis of the international standard ISO 9001, that certifies that the company applies characteristics of total quality and reliability before, during and after construction of the dies.
For CO.M.P.ES. S.p.A., the choice of ISO 9001 standard was not made
by chance: we know it guarantees the quality of the die at all levels
of the industrial process, but what is perhaps even more important,
is that it includes service to the customers.
In the general plan of the ISO 9000 standards, three types of certification
are contemplated: ISO 9001, ISO 9002 and ISO 9003. No less important is the involvement of the management in the company Quality culture and policy, or the regulations regarding "internal quality audits " and "training" of the personnel at all levels, that are contemplated in standards ISO 9002 and ISO 9003 but with reduced coverage. Obtaining this certification was achieved after an intense operation of reorganization in the company that took almost a year, during which all the personnel of CO.M.P.ES., including the management, had to learn to "update" its working methods, learning above all the methods for control of production by means of systematic formalization of every procedure, so as to leave nothing to chance. Certification of a Quality System does not merely consist of applying for and receiving a piece of paper, but involves a real mechanism of organization that must move in perfect harmony in all company departments, from top management to technical and production personnel, to sales personnel and accounting staff. "Quality is the combination of all the properties and characteristics of a product or service that enable it to satisfy implicit or explicit needs." (ISO 8402) |
